State of Texas 85th Legislative Session: Texas Veterans Commission Budget (Update-No change to Hazlewood Legacy)

This is the proposed budget by the Texas Veterans Commission for the 85th Legislative Session.  The main issues in the budget are a reduction to the strike teams that work on VA Claims; and changes to administration and distribution of funds with the Hazlewood Act.   The Legacy Program, under the Hazlewood Act, which supports the children of Texas veterans; is the target for decreasing the cost of this education benefit. (Update: There will be no change to the Hazlewood Legacy Program.)

Texas State Senator Konni Burton, who serves on the Senate Defense and Veterans’ Affairs Committee, provided an update at the VETCO meeting for November.
