7th Annual Cowtown Homeless Veteran Stand Down

Stand Downs provide supplies and services to homeless Veterans, such as food, shelter, clothing, health screenings and VA Social Security benefits counseling. Veterans can also receive referrals to other assistance such as health care, housing solutions, employment, substance use treatment and mental health counseling. They are collaborative events, coordinated between local VA Medical Centers, other government agencies and community-based homeless service providers.

Court Diversion Program selected as Grantee of the Year!

Tarrant County Veterans’ Court Diversion Program has been selected as the Texas Veterans Commission Grantee of the Year!

The award will be presented during the Texas Veterans Commission 68th Annual Statewide Training Conference in Galveston next month.

The Veterans Court Diversion Program is for Justice Involved Veterans currently facing prosecution for a criminal case. The program offers offenders a judicially supervised treatment option with a goal of successfully rehabilitation and re-entry into the community.

Recovery Resource Council provides unique counseling programs, Enduring Women for women veterans, and Enduring Families for the veteran and their family. The Art Station, with help from United Way’s Veterans Fund, offers a 16 week art therapy program for returning OEF/OIF military personnel. Art Therapy is an effective treatment facilitated by an art therapist in which clients use creative process and artwork to explore their feelings, reconcile emotional conflicts, foster self-awareness, manage behavior, develop social skills, improve reality orientation, reduce anxiety, and increase self-esteem.
