Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels focuses on caring for individuals whose diminished mobility makes it hard to shop for food, prepare meals or socialize with others. Generally programs serve adults 60 and over, although age requirements can vary by program and areas served. Mission Stability

Description & Key Services: Mission Stability is for veterans who are facing an emergency. Apply for help for rent or utilities, including water and electric bills. The non-profit may be able to help pay for school supplies and textbooks for veterans going back to school. Other services, such as case management may be offered too.

The Bridge Connection

The Bridge Connection vision is to bring unity in the city through building partnerships with local businesses, schools, churches, government and other organizations to provide for those hurting and in need. This includes meeting not only daily physical needs but also building relationships with our families, via a food pantry, cafe, clothing closet, and Christmas outreach.

Union Gospel Mission

Provide homeless people in Dallas hot food, safe shelter and a chance to reclaim their lives. Veterans who are “formerly homeless or in danger of becoming homeless” are sent to the Mission to live in a transitional living environment for up to two years. VA Homeless Veterans Stand Downs

Stand Downs are typically one- to three-day events providing supplies and services to homeless Veterans, such as food, shelter, clothing, health screenings and VA Social Security benefits counseling. Veterans can also receive referrals to other assistance such as health care, housing solutions, employment, substance use treatment and mental health counseling. They are collaborative events, coordinated between local VA Medical Centers, other government agencies and community-based homeless service providers.
