Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas

Description & Key Services: Legal Aid of Northwest Texas offers legal advice and representation to Veterans who are eligible for services. Attorneys may provide advice and counsel on issues ranging from VA and other public benefits; equal access to housing; employment law; family matters; wills and advance directives; and real property law, including landlord/tenant matters and foreclosures.

North Texas Veteran Courts

Reintegrates veterans who broke the law into their community. The court diverts Justice Involved Veterans from the traditional criminal justice through a judicially supervised treatment program reviewed by the court’s program manager, a mental health professional, the district attorney’s office and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Provides military veterans, spouses, children, and caretakers with connections to career and financial planning, job development, and skills training support. In Addiction, military families are connected to the necessary community resources such as mental health counseling, housing assistance, food assistance, and legal aid. The program specifically targets post 9/11 veterans and female veterans however, it is open to any veteran with a discharge other than dishonorable.
